Abstract
Over the last two decades, several advancements in the field of technology have occurred and new ways of learning have emerged. ICT and E-learning are forms of education to which attention has increased. This research present a historical background of higher education in Algerian and a fundamental definition of ICT and E-learning, in addition to the general background about the use, and the integration of ICT and elearning in higher education. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the use and the integration of ICT and E-learning in higher education. To achieve this purpose, a questionnaire directed to the sample of the research that included the students and the teachers of Computer Science Department at Laghouat University. Their levels vary between Licence, Master for students, and Magister, Doctorate for teachers. The findings of the research reveal that ICT and E-learning are beneficial tools for the learning process. The findings also reveal the opportunities and the challenges that face the use and the integration of technology. This study is an attempt to make teachers and learners more aware of using ICT and E-learning in education and receive their welcome and readiness for the adoption of this new technology in the future.
