Abstract
The advancement of techniques, tools and means used in marketing and global
tourism activation, most notably the Internet, and specifically social networking
sites, was a strong motive to proceed on this study. The present research paper
majorly aims to shed light on social media and highlight their role in tourist
attraction. In order to explore and clarify "the role of social media in tourist
attraction", a field study was carried out and questionnaires were distributed to
the followers of facebook group:

The results of the study concluded that social media/ networks play an
important role in the process of tourist attractions. This type of communication,
and interaction allows netizens to discover new and interesting touristic directions
and locations, as well as share their tourism experiences with each other without
spatial or temporal restrictions.
