Abstract

The use of power stabilizers (PSS) in the field of electricity generation is an inevitable necessity, because the increase in the demand for energy has forced the large energy networks to operate at full capacity which leads to disturbances in the network. This thesis deals with the subject of angular stability of a multi-machine electrical network. To do this, we used a PID type PSS based on fuzzy logic of each generator. The studied PSS design problem is formulated as an optimization problem to minimize an error criterion that appears in the rotor speed error or variation. Then, the parameters of the fuzzy PSS_PID (PSS_PIDF) are optimized using a gradient method in order to ensure a satisfactory damping of the rotor oscillations of the generators. The results obtained by the case of a PSS_PIDF were compared with those obtained by a classic PSS_PID. We used MATLAB Simulink as a simulation tool. The simulation results revealed the good performance of the PSS_PIDF.
