Abstract

This research is a study on the effects of educational psychology on the teaching process within English as Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. Educational psychology is considered as a significant part for preparing and providing teachers with the essential psychological main beliefs of the nature of teaching. We hypothesize that educational psychology can provide the teaching process with theories, concepts, and recent development in psychology that may help teachers to understand better the learning process. It can also provide effective strategies and techniques to put these theories in practice within classroom context. Thus, in the first chapter, we try to shed light on the most vital theories and strategies of teaching that are provided by the educational psychologists. We also try to examine the significance of teaching the module of psycho-pedagogy and the role of technology in the teaching learning process. In the second chapter, we investigate and confirm the attitude of both teachers and students towards the role of educational psychology and the importance of the module of psycho-pedagogy in the teaching learning process. It is by the means of teachers’ interview and students’ questionnaire that we investigate the significance of psycho-pedagogy and other issues which concern the subject matter. In the third chapter the outcomes from analyzing the interviews and questionnaire have to reveal that both of the teachers and students are conscious of the effects of educational psychology and its theories on promoting the teaching learning process. The present dissertation aims at helping the teachers to be well-informed with the theories and strategies of educational psychology that may help them in their way of teaching.
