| dc.description.abstract | Fantasy literature has benefited from the ancient mythologies and folklore as a primary material. Yet, many contemporary authors remained utilizing these myths by incorporating them into their modern stories. From the original mythologies, different and divergent views emerged because many of them when placed within an urban environment; therefore, it resulted in these different visions. In three chapters, this analytical study aims to address and explain how Rick Riordan, in his book, The Lightning Thief (2005), reshaped these old myths and modernized them to keep the updated to his age.
