Abstract

The present study aims at indicating the significance of using graphic novels as a tool to teach literature for first year students of English as beginners. The main objective of the present study is to shed light on the effectiveness of graphic novels to teach literature for first year students as English beginner learners, and how it heightens their learning abilities in literature. To carry out this research and test the hypothesis, the quantitative approach was utilized; a questionnaire was used and administered to first year students of English at Amar Theliji of Laghouat as a tool to gather data about the students opinions regarding the usefulness and effectiveness of graphic novels as a technique to teach literature. The researcher findings have shown that the graphic novel is a very effective tool to teach literature for first year EFL students of English. Finally, this study recommends some tips for teachers to guide them use graphic novels effectively to teach literature for first year university students of English
