Abstract

This study aimed to find out how the English language affects the cultural identity of Algerian university students. In this context, we hypothesized that, Algerian students’ attitudes toward their mother culture changed because of their learning of English, in addition to their learning of the English language and culture, we hypothesized that their culture is affected thus their identity will probably change in a positive way. In order to test these hypotheses, we addressed a questionnaire to the degree of second-year Master students at the department of English, Ammar Thleidji University of Laghouat hoping to obtain the appropriate data for our study. The results revealed that Algerian culture is affected by the English language but not big percent. Besides that Algerian students changed due to their learning of English language posetively
