The pipelines of oil and gas transportation are exposed every year to problems caused by cracks, corrosion and shocks causing erosion, which leads to the creation of economic and production challenges due to the safety lack of equipment, and the effectiveness of inspections applied to the damaged pipeline. In our study we have taken the Algerian 24’’ crude oil pipeline, that is subjected, according to the Algerian regulation, to an ILI inspection (smart-tool inspection). The results demonstrate a several points affected by internal and external corrosion which need reparation. This paper demonstrate that the commissioning parameters of the pipeline (especially pressure) must be reduced to a calculated value in order to maintain safely the crude oil transportation and also to allow the necessary and adequate reparation.
