The present study tries to shed light on the enactment of Poor Laws in Britain. It aims at assessing the circumstances that punctuated the working and living conditions of the lower classes. More importantly, this attempt highlights the responses of the government in favour of the poor. Since this study is about history and politics the appropriate methodology to follow is historical approach, in addition to gathering data and articles and analysing results in order to get a comprehensible dissertation, however the qualitative and historical approaches are the best to follow. The main findings in this thesis are the failure of the Poor Laws in Britain in addition to the abolishment of this relief system
