| dc.description.abstract | This dissertation focuses on U.S. foreign policy during the Vietnam War and the reasons behind the U.S. failure in Vietnam. It tries to explain how the United States became increasingly involved in Vietnam. It also examines the development of the U.S. foreign policy by focusing on the policies undertaken by U.S. presidents who were in office throughout the course of the war. It further investigates the factors that contributed to the U.S. major defeat in Vietnam despite its money, manpower and technology. This research provides valuable information regarding U.S. involvement in Vietnam and the presidential decision making in the war. It also provides a clearer understanding of American failure in Vietnam and may direct future research on the lessons of the Vietnam War | |
