Abstract
Destructive testings used in evaluating the compressive strength of hardened concrete weaken the structure (coring), generate environmentally harmful waste generaly when using the simple compression test.
Non-destructive sclerometer and ultrasonic testing on hardened concrete is an alternative to remedy the problems caused by the destructive testing. For this purpose, The objective of this work is to find a relationship between compressive strength, sclerometer bounce and ultrasonic velocity tests. In this context, two formulations of concretes based on local materials and two types of cements (CEM I 42.5 and CEM II 42.5) most used in Algeria, were developed and simultaneous tests on the cubes (Ultrasound test, sclerometric test, crushing test) are performed at ages of 7 and 28 days. The results of these tests show a good correlation between the compressive strength and the sclerometric, ultrasonic and combined results (ultrasound and sclerometer). These relationships can predict the compressive strength of concrete without the need for destructive testing. Nevertheless, these relationships can be improved by taking into account the parameters influencing these tests
