Abstract

This thesis aims at defining the concept of Melancholy and the phases it witnessed , and the variety of understanding throughout centuries.Moreover , the study sheds light on the positive tradition of Melancholy in English literature.In brief , it shows the concept of Melancholt through the eyes of the most influential poets in old times.
