Abstract
This study aimed to identify the role of the school in consolidating the values
of environmental education, by highlighting the elements of the educational
process represented by the teacher, the school curricula, and the school
environmental activities. The main research question was as follows: How
does the school contribute to the consolidation of environmental education
values?
To answer this question, the descriptive approach was used in the research,
and the study sample consisted of 57 professors who were chosen by the
intended method, representing 15% of the study population. To analyze the
study data, it was collected through a questionnaire and observation tool. The
study reached the following results:
The teacher and the environmental school curricula and activities have a role
in promoting environmental education and spreading environmental
awareness by increasing students' interest in the environment and focusing
on rationalizing their environmental behaviors. This is in addition to the need
to include environmental topics that carry emotional and skill dimensions, and
not only cognitive dimensions that depend on theoretical processing. This
comes by focusing on environmental school activities with applied field
treatment and linking them mainly to the student's local environment.
