dc.descriptionThis study opens several perspectives for future research and clinical development in Algeria. The establishment of multicenter national registries would allow larger-scale evaluation of biologic therapies, including long-term efficacy, safety, infectious complications, treatment persistence, biosimilar use, and pharmacoeconomic impact. Future prospective studies involving homogeneous disease-specific cohorts would also be useful to better identify predictive factors of therapeutic response and adverse effects. Integration of validated disease activity scores and patient-reported outcome measures could further improve therapeutic assessment. Additional research should focus on therapeutic drug monitoring, immunogenicity, biosimilar implementation, and cost-effectiveness analyses in the Algerian context. Such studies could contribute to more individualized therapeutic strategies and optimized healthcare resource allocation. Finally, the progressive development of personalized medicine, biomarkers, pharmacogenomics, and artificial intelligence-assisted therapeutic monitoring may significantly improve the future management of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases treated with biologic and targeted therapies Third, multidisciplinary collaboration between internists, gastroenterologists, rheumatologists, neurologists, dermatologists, infectious disease specialists, and pharmacists should be encouraged in order to optimize therapeutic decision-making and long-term patient follow-up. Fourth, therapeutic education programs should be developed to improve patient adherence, treatment understanding, early recognition of adverse effects, and long-term therapeutic outcomes. Patient awareness remains a key element in the success of biologic therapies. Finally, improving access to biologic and targeted therapies in peripheral regions and optimizing reimbursement policies may contribute to reducing therapeutic inequalities within the Algerian healthcare system
dc.description.abstractBased on the findings of our study, several recommendations may be proposed in order to optimize the use of biologic and targeted therapies in Internal Medicine practice in Algeria. First, strengthening early diagnosis and referral pathways for chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases appears essential in order to improve timely access to biologic therapies. Delayed diagnosis and therapeutic escalation may contribute to disease progression, irreversible organ damage, and poorer functional outcomes. Second, systematic pre-therapeutic evaluation should be reinforced before initiation of biologic therapy, particularly regarding infectious screening for tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C, HIV infection, and vaccinationstatus. Given the infectious risks associated with immunosuppressive therapies, standardized screening protocols and close monitoring strategies remain fundamental.
