Abstract

We conducted a retrospective study using data collected from September 2021 to September 2023 in the laboratory of Kibob in Laghouat, followed by a prospective study from September 2023 to February 2024. The aim of our research is to outline some of the epidemiological characteristics, diagnostic methods, clinical presentations, and statistical data of leishmaniasis in the Kibob med laboratory. Initially, there were 159 patients; 27 cases were negative and 132 cases were positive. Most of the affected cases were children aged 6 to 10 years, with a slight male predominance at 53%. Kaser El-hiran was the region of origin for 50% of the patients. Additionally, the dry season (autumn) had the highest incidence with 73 cases. The ulcero-crusty form was the most common clinical presentation, with lesions predominantly located on the lower limbs (45%). In conclusion, the wilaya of Laghouat is significantly impacted by this parasitic disease, as evidenced by the results, confirming the persistence of cutaneous leishmaniasis in the region. Key Words:Cutaneous leishmaniasis – in children – clinical forms – autumn season.
