Summary The city of Nishapur is one of the most famous cities of the Islamic world located in the country of Khorasan, and one of the ancient Islamic metropolis in history, civilization, science and study, culture and thought, over the course of six whole centuries. The Abbasid era, before it was destroyed by an earthquake in 540 AH / 1145 AD, then completed its devastation by the invasion of the tribes of Gaza and then the Mongols in 618 AH / 1221 AD. Nishapur is located in the Khorasan Province, which occupies the northwestern corner of Iran on the borders of Russia and Afghanistan, although the Nishapur region lies between the Afghan and Pakistani territories. The most important city of Khurasan was Nishapur, which represents the western quarter of Khurasan. The name "Nissapur" is due to Shapur, who built it in the third century AD, and Shapur is the second king of the Persian Sassanids. to Qadisiyah. The Persian King Sapur saw a site he liked, so he requested that a city be built in it, and since there were many reeds in it, he ordered to cut it, and the foundation of the city began, which took its name from the name of the king and from the word “cane” which means in ancient Persian “ne,” and thus the name of the city became Nishapur, i.e. Sabor cane. It was established in the third century AD; Where Sabor ruled Persia from 241 AD to 271 AD, meaning that its age is now nearly 19 centuries AD; Which makes it one of the cities that witnessed some of the most important and prominent stages in human history, especially Islamic history, due to the intellectual and political transformations that Islamic history witnessed in those areas. Among the most prominent areas that were in Nishapur, among the cities and villages: Tus, Bayhaq, Bakherz, Abiward, Asfarayin, Arghyan, Elaq, Istwa, Bisht, Jagrim, Khawaf, Khabran, Shadiakh, Rakh, Zouzan, Zam, Gwen, and Nasa, as mentioned in the Geography books and classes, and these villages witnessed the features of the Islamic renaissance, especially in the third century AH and beyond. Nishapur was conquered during the days of the Rashidi Caliph Othman bin Affan, may God be pleased with him, by Abdullah bin Aamer bin Kariz, in the year 31 AH. But it rose up in the days of Othman, so Abdullah bin Amer sent to it, and he opened it again. Since the Islamic conquest of the city of Nishapur, it has witnessed a great scientific and urban renaissance, and it remained a civilized capital during the era of the Umayyad dynasty. As for the Abbasid era, Nishapur was a great commercial, scientific and cultural center. Of the states that are independent of the caliphate, even if they follow the caliphate nominally, and Nishapur was a major metropolis and political capital for most of them, including: - 1The Tahirid state in Khorasan (205-259 AH/820-872 AD- - 2The Saffarid State in Iran and Beyond the River, (254 - 298 AH / 868 - 910 AD( - 3The Samanid state in Transoxiana and elsewhere (261 - 390 AH/874 - 1000 AD( - 4The Ghaznavid state in Ghazni, most of Iran, Transoxiana and some India (349-579 AH/960-1183 AD( - 5 The Great Seljuk State (432 - 583 AH / 1037 - 1187 AD( Throughout its history, Nishapur had a great stature and high status, and great interest from those who succeeded it from the Muslim rulers. The old and the young and burned it, and they killed judges and scholars in the whole country, and the brutality of those savage clans reached that they captured King Sanjar the Seljuk and killed everyone who found him in it, and Al-Muayyad, one of the Mamluks of Sanjar seized it in the year 550 AH, "and removed the mystery from everyone, and killed many of them, and the best biography, And he was fair in the people, and he persuaded the people, and I remained on that until the year 618 AH, when the Tatars came out from behind the river, and they wreaked havoc in the land until they reached the walls of Nishapur. | |
